Media mogul Rupert Murdoch and popular author of ‘Harry Potter’ books JK Rowling locked horns on Twitter after the former posted a snide remark on Muslims in the aftermath of the heinous terror attacks in Paris.
It all started when Murdoch tweeted on Saturday seemingly suggesting that all Muslims must be held responsible for the “growing jihadist cancer” that they spread in the world.
His rather outrageous comment on the popular micro-blogging site came in the backdrop of the terrorist attack on the offices of French satirical newspaper ‘Charlie Hebdo’ in Paris in which 12 people were killed including 10 staff members of the newspaper. The attack is suspected to be a plot of Al Qaeda and was carried out by Cherif and Said Kouachi, two brothers, who were later tracked by police and killed.
Murdoch’s comments drew massive exasperation on the popular micro-blogging site with several users condemning his opinion and taking sarcastic potshots at him. His tweet was re-tweeted more than 7,000 times and soon #RupertsFault began trending in the United States.
Comedian Aziz Ansari was one of the first to post a strong rebuttal to Murdoch’s comment.
He followed that up with:

But perhaps the best jibe to Murdoch’s tweet came from popular Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
She tweeted:
Even though Murdoch did not post a clarification or explain his comment on Twitter, he tweeted two days later imploring everyone to remember the brave act of Ahmed Merabet, the Muslim police officer who died defending the office of Charlie Hebdo during the heinous attack in Paris.
