Former presidential candidate of Republican Party, Vivek Ramaswamy, who had become one of the biggest supporters of president-elect Donald Trump, has said that the policy of Trump administration’s mass deportation plan is a “pragmatic” approach with which most of the people in the United States agree with. In an interview with Jonathan Karl on ABC News, Ramaswamy said “Do we have a broken legal immigration system? Yes, we do, but I think the first step is going to be to restore the rule of law to do it in a very pragmatic way.” When Karl asked Ramaswamy about the plan of Trump’s administration whether they would deport 11 million or in some cases 20 million as claimed by Trump, Ramaswamy did not confirm the numbers but said that the number of illegal immigrants arriving in the United States in past few months are people “who really have no place in this country.” It’s totally pragmatic to *immediately* deport illegal aliens who breached our border in the last year, anyone who is still detained, & those who committed a crime while here, while also ceasing every last dime of aid to anyone in this country illegally. No real counterarguments. — Vivek Ramaswamy (@VivekGRamaswamy) November 10, 2024 “A pragmatic way. I don’t think most Americans disagree with me to say those who have entered, those who have committed a crime, they should be out of the country. That would be the largest mass deportation,” Ramaswamy said, as quoted by Politico. In the practical approach toward the deportation, Ramaswamy said that immigrants who have committed a crime would be deported, and added by saying that it in itself would become “largest mass deportation in history”. He further added that there shouldn’t be any federal aid allowed to help subsidize illegal immigration. “Not an iota, not a cent of government spending should go to subsidize this,” Ramaswamy said. “Not to sanctuary cities, not to federal aid to people in this country illegally, and we’ll see a large number by the millions of self-deportations as well.” Karl also asked the Republican Ramaswamy if he had any expectations to work in the upcoming Trump administration, to which he replied that there were couple of great opportunities on the table and that he wants to make a big impact on the United States.
