Bhupinder Singh Hooda Garhi Sampla Kiloi Election Result 2024: As the counting of votes is underway for the Haryana Assembly elections, senior Congress leader and former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is leading from the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi seat, early trends indicate. Hooda is leading by a margin of 25, 691 votes, as per the Election Commission.

The counting of votes polled in the Haryana Assembly elections held on October 5 began at 8 am on Tuesday. Hooda contested against BJP’s Manju Hooda, daughter of a retired police officer in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi.

Though the Congress is trailing in Haryana as per early trends, Hooda exuded confidence, saying, “Congress is forming the government. I have got inputs from the counting centres, we are forming the government. You all will see that the trends will shortly change…Congress is going to form the government with comfortable absolute majority.”

Hooda has played a significant role in candidate selection and strategy in this Assembly election. If Congress wins in Haryana, the focus will be on the chief ministership within the party, which had triggered talks during the poll campaign. Kumari Selja, a Dalit leader and AICC general secretary, had publicly expressed interest in the CM position, complicating Hooda’s prospects.

Hooda, whose son Deepender is also being seen as a potential CM candidate, had indicated that the opinions of the MLAs would be considered, with the final decision resting with the party’s central leadership. Randeep Surjewala confirmed that the high command would make the final choice.

However, early trends indicate that the BJP is leading in Haryana with 44 seats, while Congress follows closely with a lead in 39 seats. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is trailing from the Ladwa seat. Congress party workers who began celebrations in Haryana after initial trends indicated victory have returned to their camps.

Voting for the 90 Haryana Assembly constituencies took place on October 5 with a total voter turnout of 67.9 per cent. The key parties in the fray are the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and the INLD-BSP and JJP-Azad Samaj Party alliances.
