He has 15 years of experience as a journalist, with stints for five Indian media organisations before joining The Indian Express. He has a keen interest in the way sport affects society and vice versa and tries to look at stories beyond the black and white narratives of stats and scores.
Qualification, Degrees / other achievements: Amit is a Bachelors of Mass Media (BMM) graduate, who recently completed the Executive Programme in Digital Marketing from IIM Indore and the High Performance Leadership Program conducted by ELMS Sports Foundation.

Awards and Recognition: Amit was a runner-up in the prestigious Red Ink Journalism Awards in 2014 for a report he wrote exposing the shambolic living conditions of athletes at Sports Authority of India's Mumbai campus.
Amit was a Robert Bosch Media Ambassador in 2019, an exchange fellowship, for which he spent three months in Germany learning and reporting on their sports systems, fact checking in German newsrooms and the German way of life.
Amit also won the Media for Mental Health Award in 2022, given by the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (India), for the Mind Over Medals podcast series on athlete mental well-being.
