Debraj Deb
Debraj Deb is a Senior Copy Editor with indianexpress.com and covers Tripura and occasionally other states of Northeast India. He is a journalist with 15 years of reporting experience from the NE region. He has a keen interest in politics, migration and displacement, conflict, ethnic culture, media market, ancient and modern history, communication and propaganda studies. Debraj holds a Bachelor’s degree in English literature and a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Tripura University, M.Phil in Mass Communication and a Ph.D in Mass Communication from Assam University, Silchar. Debraj has served with two Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored research projects, got published in several journals and research publications of national and international repute and has done collaborative research work on refugee studies with different international research foundations. He started his career as a journalist with Tripura Darpan in 2008. He also worked with Tripura Times, The Northeast Today, Northeast Colors, The Telegraph among others where he covered Tripura before joining The Indian Express in 2018. He received the coveted National Press Club Awards for Excellence in Journalism instituted by the Mumbai Press Club in entertainment category for covering myths and legends of Northeast in 2012. Debraj also keeps keen interest in Indian classical music and plays the sitar.
