Worried by inputs of possible militant attack, government deploys over 80,000 security personnel to secure twin Amarnath Yatra routes. Number of pilgrims likely to cross 6 lakh
This comes a day ahead of the start of the Amarnath Yatra, being organised by the Union Territory administration for the first time since the scrapping of Jammu and Kashmir's special status in August 2019.
The police said that a joint team of the J-K Police, Indian Army, and CRPF cordoned off Trubji in Kulgam district on Monday after inputs about the presence of militants in the village.
The Army officer, who did not wish to be identified, said security personnel three to four times more in strength have been deployed around the yatra as there's credible intelligence of a likely militant strike.
The G20 meetings are likely to be Jammu and Kashmir's first major event since the revocation of the former state’s special status in 2019.
Security for the yatra that is scheduled to begin on June 30 was reviewed with senior police, paramilitary, army and intelligence officials of the UT.

With the posts being re-designated to the divisional level, employees can be transferred anywhere within the Kashmir or Jammu divisions — there are 10 districts in each division.
