Suresh Prabhu To Roll Out Vikalp Scheme For Waitlisted Train Passengers From April 1

The Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu will soon be rolling out the Vikalp scheme which will provide an option to wait-listed passengers of selecting an alternative train on the same route, if their ticket does not get a confirmation. Initially, Vikalp will be open only for e-ticket booking process. The scheme will roll out from April 1st, but there is a catch -that is, if the passenger does not like the alternative offered, one can cancel the ticket but it would be treated as cancellation of a fully confirmed ticket and the refunds will be made as per the rules.
